The decline in the HIV/AIDS prevalence rates in Cambodia over the last decade is commendable and can be partly attributed to a committed nation, working towards a common goal. Other countries have demonstrated that as the prevalence rates fall, so does the urgency to address HIV/AIDS.
Representatives from various governmental and non-governmental backgrounds identifi ed the need to engage the community to share and recognize the successes made to date within HIV and AIDS and to realign all efforts, unanimously: towards obtaining the Universal Access targets for 2008-10. On March 7 2008, twenty-four major decision makers currently working in the area of HIV and AIDS representing; government and non-government organisations and agencies,
other health related organisations and some community members, came together to form the 3rd National AIDS Conference Steering Committee.
The Steering committee has since formed two working subcommittees, the Scientifi c Committee which is responsible for the conference content, including keynote speakers, presenters and identifying/ inviting guests of honor etc. and the Logistics/ Administration Committee, which is responsible for the logistical and fi nancial aspects of the conference planning stages and delivery.
The Steering committee is proud to announce Cambodia’s 3rd National AIDS Conference. The conference will take place on 10-12 September 2008, at Chaktomuk Theatre and the Cambodiana Hotel. We are expecting to attract around 500 people.
